Not too many country music stars have had more impressive careers than Tim McGraw. He's been so prolific and so popular for so long that he recently released his eighth greatest hits album. He's built a side career as a TV and film actor, and he's earned good reviews for his on-screen performances. And he and his wife of 17 years, Faith Hill, are probably the closest thing to a country music royal couple since Johnny Cash and June Carter.
McGraw will be at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa Saturday with his "Sundown Heaven Town" tour.
The tour's named after McGraw's new album, which is set to be released in September. The concert includes a smattering of songs from the new album, in addition to selections from his prodigious catalogue of hits.
Opening the Tampa show are Kip Moore, who's probably best known for his 2011 No. 1 hit "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck," and Cassadee Pope. Pope was the singer for the popular pop-punk band Hey Monday before she went solo and went country. She was the winner of the 2012 edition of "The Voice," and she had hits last year with her album "Frame by Frame" and her single "Wasting All These Tears."
