SARASOTA -- A Sarasota man was arrested after deputies say they found he had downloaded hundreds of videos or images of child pornography with children as young as 7 years old, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

John Dickie, 51, was arrested Wednesday and charged with 50 counts of child pornography, according to an arrest report.

A forensics computer detective learned that Dickie's IP address had been used to download over 500 files containing pornographic images or videos between Aug. 5, 2013, and April 28, 2014, the report said.

Investigators were able to determine that IP address belonged to Dickie, it was password protected and that Dickie lived alone in 4000 block of Crockers Lake Blvd in Sarasota, according to the sheriff's office.

On Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant at Dickie's apartment and did a preliminary forensic computer scan on his computer and discovered 63 images of child pornography, deputies said.

More images are expected to be found when a comprehensive exam of the computer is complete, according to the report.

Dickie admitted to downloading the pornography, the sheriff's office said. He also admitted the he knew what he did was wrong, the report said.

Dickie was being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail.
