BRADENTON — A Bradenton man is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm after police say he threatened two individuals in another vehicle after a near-collision, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Elston Hicks, 54, was reportedly arrested at 5:15 p.m. Monday.

The two victims were reportedly westbound in a truck around the 2100 block of Manatee Avenue West. They merged into the left lane as Hicks did and Hicks reportedly began blowing his horn and driving beside the victims.

The victims reportedly said Hicks began yelling profanities and then retrieved a handgun from his glovebox. The victims claim he said: “That’s a good way to get a bullet in your head.”

The victims flagged down a deputy who stopped Hicks’ vehicle. Hicks reportedly denied grabbing his firearm but admitted to saying the threat.

Hicks reportedly has a license to carry a concealed weapon. He was being held on bonds totaling $10,000.
