1 injured as Bradenton truck driver cited in four-vehicle collision

MANATEE — A four-car collision took place in Manatee County after a vehicle failed to brake, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Warren Douglas Marler, 46, Bradenton, was cited for careless driving after the accident at 3:26 p.m. Tuesday.

Marler's Ford F-350 truck and three other vehicles were reportedly northbound on U.S. 41 (14th Street West) in the outside right lane approaching 55th Avenue West.

Marler’s vehicle was behind the other three when the ystopped behind other stopped vehicles.

Marler reportedly said he glanced down as he was putting his phone down and failed to brake behind the second vehicle, causing it to crash into a third, which then hit the fourth vehicle.

The driver in the car hit by Marler's vehicle sustained minor injuries and was sent to Manatee Memorial Hospital.
