Neal stays

on pace for

record year

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Neal Communities stayed on pace through June for what could be the best sales year ever for the 44-year-old Manatee County homebuilder.

Last month, the company sold 62 homes, down from 77 in May and 88 in April, but enough to push its total for the first half of 2014 to 445. The total puts Neal on pace for a record-breaking sales year. In 2013, Neal had its best year to date, posting 826 sales.

The company has plans to build 1,014 homes this year and is projecting it will start 14 new communities from Lee to Manatee County. According to a Neal news release, the company expects to sell its 10,000th home this summer.

The big sales numbers come as Neal Communities pushes toward a peak production level of nearly 1,600 homes in 2017. Company president Pat Neal has said he expects his company to stay at a high level of construction volume through 2019 or 2020.
