Police: Teen suffers seizure and crashes into Bradenton house's front porch

BRADENTON -- A vehicle struck the corner of a porch Monday morning after the driver in it lost control during a seizure, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

According to a report, the driver, who is in his late teens, suffered a seizure while driving south in the 800 block of 11th Street East. According to Bradenton Police Sgt. Shane Shehorn, police received a call about the crash at 8:54 a.m. Monday.

"The subject lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway, traveling across a yard and striking the corner of a porch at 1110 8th St. E.," the report states.

According to police, the vehicle continued moving and then struck the wall of a neighboring residence in the 1200 block of Eighth Street East. The front porch of the first residence was compromised, police said. The second home, however, was not damaged.

The driver was transported to the hospital for treatment and, according to the Bradenton Police Department, a building inspector deemed the front porch as uninhabitable.
