Rain chances will be high in the Tampa Bay area Monday, with some storms starting earlier in the day.

A line of showers and thunderstorms is drifting towards the coast from the Gulf of Mexico. The storms will move from the coast to the inland areas.

According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez, rain chances are 50 percent today.

"For parts of Tampa Bay, storms will be scattered early then become more numerous in the afternoon," Marquez said. "And the storms will start earlier in the day today. And they will be slow moving at times, causing heavy rainfall in some areas."

Skies will be partly cloudy most of the day and high temperatures will reach the upper 80s to 90 degrees.

Rain chances will drop a little later in the week.
