— Sarasota authorities have located a missing man suffering from Parkinson's disease and early dementia following a brief search.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office reported Douglas L. Tomb, 65, who is visiting from Illinois, told family members he was going for a walk and left the residence in the 3900 block of Country View Drive around 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

Family members became concerned and contacted the sheriff’s office around 10 p.m.

Deputies found him a short while later at the intersection of Clark and McIntosh roads. He had gotten disoriented while walking and is now home safe with his family, officials said.

The area was searched with police dogs and a sheriff's office helicopter.
