— A Bradenton man was killed when he was struck by a car while crossing the street early Saturday morning.

Anthony Taylor, 55, was attempting to cross U.S. 41 near 55th Avenue West around 12:07 a.m. when he was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet HHR heading north, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The victim was crossing mid-block and failed to yield to the right of the way of the oncoming vehicle, the report states.

Taylor died at the scene. Results of a test for alcohol were still pending.

The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Bradenton man, was not hurt, the highway patrol said. He has not been charged.
