— Two Lakewood Ranch teens were arrested after authorities say they were caught collecting marijuana plants that they were growing in the woods.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office received a complaint about a dark-colored Dodge truck near the 7800 block of Panther Ridge Trail in the Panther Ridge neighborhood, according to a media release.

Deputies arrived around 4 p.m. Friday to find the two boys, ages 16 and 15, cleaning a plant in the rear of the vehicle, the release states.

The boys later showed deputies where there were more plants, the sheriff's office said.

Both were arrested and face charges of possession/cultivation of marijuana.
