MANATEE--The DeSoto Junction Goodwill will have its final day of business Saturday in favor of a newer store near U.S. 301 and State Road 70.

The store has marked down items to 75 percent off Friday and Saturday to clear out the inventory so it will not have to move merchandise to the new store at 2701 51st Ave. E.

The DeSoto Junction store, 3611 First St. E., will close at 7 p.m. Saturday. The new store will open at 9 a.m. July 17.

The hours of the new store will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Donations are accepted starting at 8 a.m. through the week, and 9 a.m. Sundays.

The new location, designed by Fawley Bryant Architects and built by NDC Construction, will feature a 35,866-square-foot retail store and drive-through donation center. Goodwill will also move most of its employees from its headquarters at 7501 15th St. E, Tallevast, to the new 27,000-square-foot administrative space attached to the new store by this fall. Some employees will remain at the old offices.

The new headquarters will also act as an international training center for Goodwill employees from across North America, according to Goodwill officials.
