Fourth of july events

Independence Day Celebration: various locations, Anna Maria Island

The Independence Day celebration will showcase two days of family fun, fresh seafood and spectacular fireworks starting at The Beachhouse Restaurant, 200 Gulf Drive N., Bradenton Beach, with the 21st annual Fireworks Extravaganza July 3, and the finale at the Sandbar Restaurant, 100 Spring Ave., Anna Maria, at its 28th annual Fireworks Spectacular July 4. Both events feature special VIP packages providing front row seating, food and specialty drinks. Restaurant seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. AMI Privateers Fourth of July parade: Begins at Coquina Beach

The Anna Maria Island Privateers Annual 4th of July Parade begins at 10 a.m. sharp July 4 at Coquina Beach, 2650 Gulf Drive, Bradenton Beach. The parade runs the entire length of Anna Maria Island to Bay Front Park in the town of Anna Maria. More than 100 participants are expected. After the parade, the Privateers will head to Cafe on the Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, from noon to 4 p.m. for live music, food and drinks.

Palmetto Fourth of July Celebration: Lamb and Sutton Park, 1006 Sixth St. W.

Palmetto's 4th of July celebration and free concert begins at 4 p.m. July 4. The event will feature food vendors and a $5 VIP section at stage front. The main attraction is "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery who will sing his country tunes after The Jake Castro Band and goodBye eddie warm things up for him. Other than the VIP section, the rest of the park will be open to free seating. Following the free concert, at 9 p.m., the cities of Bradenton and Palmetto and Manatee County combine to put on their Fourth of July Fireworks over the Manatee River.

Selby Gardens' "Tropical Fourth of July": Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, 811 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota

Selby Gardens' annual Tropical Fourth of July celebration will be 6 p.m. July 4 featuring a night of fun for the whole family with a fireworks display at Island Park. There will be plenty of kid-friendly activities and live music from Impulse. Bring folding chairs and beach blankets. No coolers. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration: Siesta Key Public Beach, 948 Beach Road, Sarasota

The 24th annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration will be at 9 p.m. July 4. Fireworks over Siesta Key can be viewed from the Gulf, Intercoastal and in particular Siesta Beach. A VIP Party will precede the fireworks 5:30-9:30 p.m. VIP viewing packages are available for $150 a couple and will feature on-site parking on the beach, a catered picnic for two, drinks, and a preferred viewing area for the fireworks display. "Live from downtown, it's Friday Night": Palm Avenue Main and First streets, Sarasota

"Live from downtown, it's Friday Night" will be 6-9 p.m. July 4 and every first Friday of the month featuring live performances by Sarasota's premier entertainers and performing arts organizations and enjoy shopping at a unique mix of boutiques, galleries and salons. Music on Main: Main Street, Lakewood Ranch

Main Street at Lakewood Ranch will host a Music on Main concert 6-9 p.m. July 4 featuring live music by Smokey's Session. Beer, wine and food sales benefit the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund. Village of the Arts art walks: Village of the Arts, 1113 12th St. W., Bradenton

Enjoy an art walk through Bradenton's acclaimed artist colony 6-9:30 p.m. July 4 and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. July 5. The Village of the Arts is the place to be for the hottest and largest selection of local art. The Tampa Theatre Summer Classic Movie Series, a line-up of titles nominated by Tampa Theatre fans, are "North By Northwest" July 6, "The Gay Divorcee" July 13, "Lawrence Of Arabia" July 20, "Blazing Saddles" July 27, "Dirty Dancing" Aug. 3, "Citizen Kane" Aug. 10, "Casablanca" Aug. 16-17, and "The Black Pirate" Aug. 24.
