15 Sarasota clerks cited for selling booze to minors in sting

SARASOTA — Fifteen convenience store clerks were cited for selling alcohol to a minor during an undercover operation conducted Monday and Tuesday by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Alcohol Task Force.

The following businesses were found to be selling alcohol to a person under 21, and clerks were given a misdemeanor notice to appear:

Sarasota: Marathon, 6212 S. Tamiami Trail; Citgo, 4529 Bee Ridge Road; Mobil, 4350 Bee Ridge Road; BP, 2791 Bee Ridge Road; Mobil, 2308 Bee Ridge Road; Mobil, 8445 S. Tamiami Trail; Mobil, 2745 Beneva Road; Marathon, 1135 Beneva Road; Shell, 5100 Fruitville Road; Shell, 3440 Siesta Drive; and 7-Eleven, 5232 Ocean Blvd.

Nokomis: Sam American Pantry, 810 Colonia Lane.

Osprey: Murphy USA, 117 S. Tamiami Trail; and Shell, 1166 S. Tamiami Trail.

Venice: Shell, 4300 S. Tamiami Trail.

Clerk Arthur Kleszczynski of Venice at the Osprey Shell was arrested as he had been cited for selling alcohol to a minor in the last JATF operation. Another 64 businesses in Sarasota, Osprey, Venice, Nokomis and North Port were in compliance.
