Report: Ben Gordon signs with Magic

The Sports NetworkJuly 2, 2014

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Orlando Magic have agreed to terms with veteran shooting guard Ben Gordon on a two-year contract, Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday.

According to the report, only the first year of the $9 million deal is guaranteed, with the Magic holding an option for the 2015-16 season.

The move cannot be officially announced until July 10, when the NBA's moratorium on free agent signings is lifted.

Gordon is coming off a 2013-14 in which he averaged a career-low 5.2 points and was waived by the Charlotte Bobcats in March after playing in just 19 games.

The 31-year-old owns a career 40.2 percent success rate from 3-point range, however, and the Magic recently traded their best perimeter shooter, Arron Afflalo, to Denver.

Gordon, the NBA's 2004-05 Sixth Man of the Year, has averaged 15.6 points per game over 10 seasons with Chicago, Detroit and Charlotte.
