MANATEE -- Detectives have charged an a 18-year-old man with stabbing a 13-year-old boy in Bradenton early Sunday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Ronny Chavezmanon was charged with aggravated battery, domestic battery and resisiting. He was arrested in Sarasota and is being currently held without bond at the Sarasota County jail, according to a news release.

The sheriff's office said Tuesday the victim lied about the circumstances of the stabbing.

He originally told investigators he was stabbed by one of four people who robbed him while he was playing basketball in Pride Park at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

However, he later changed his story and said he was actually stabbed in the 100 block of 66th Avenue Drive West, where Chavezmanon's girlfriend lives, according to the report.

Investigators determined that Chavezmanon was upset that the victim was at his girlfriend's house, the sheriff's office said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.

Sheriff's office spokesman Dave Bristow said the victim likely will not be charged in the case.
