MANATEE -- Two men were arrested on charges of trying to rob a jewelry kiosk at the Desoto Square mall early Friday morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

An alarm at the Charms Palace kiosk went off at 1:27 a.m. on Friday, showing interior motion, according to a report. Units completely surrounded the mall, including a helicopter, and mall security spotted Gary Clyburn, 23, and Rennie Ray Taylor, 20, near the food court.

The Bradenton Police Department came in to assist with the building search, using K-9 officers to locate the suspects, according to the report. They eventually found Clyburn and Taylor hiding in the fire exit hallway near Sears behind a door.

The suspects were arrested on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest and felony criminal mischief, according to deputies. An estimated $7,000 in damage was done to the business.
