Katy Perry brings her 'Prismatic' world tour to Tampa

The star's 'Prismatic' tour has wowed audiences with its music and visuals

June 26, 2014

If you're inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Monday night, you're gonna hear her roar.

Katy Perry, one of the biggest pop stars in the world, will be in Tampa with her "Prismatic World Tour." The tour's name comes from her latest album, "Prism," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 100 a few months back. The album includes her ubiquitous hit "Roar," the biggest-selling single of her phenomenal career. ("Roar" has been the first number in the show during earlier stops on the tour, so don't get there late if that's your favorite.)

It's only been about six years since Perry really hit the big time. Her first hit was "I Kissed a Girl," from her second album, "One of the Boys." Since then, with only four studio albums under her belt, she's been nominated for 11 Grammy Awards and was named Woman of the Year by Billboard magazine in 2012. She's the only artist ever to have a song in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 for 69 straight weeks. And her six quintuple-platinum singles in this country are more than any other artist. And if that weren't impressive enough, she was also the voice of Smurfette in "The Smurfs."

By all accounts of the tour so far, it's a spectacular visual event, on top of the music.

Capital Cities, an indie duo from California, opens the show.
