FHP monitors prescribed burn on I-75

SARASOTA — A prescribed burn in Sarasota County is being monitored Wednesday night by the Florida Highway Patrol on State Road 93 in the area of the 186-mile marker on Interstate 75.

According to the FHP, the Florida Forest Service has been contacted and a spot weather forecast has been obtained by the National Weather Service.

FHP reports it will continue to monitor smoke levels based on roadway conditions and visibility.

DBI Services Inc. has provided signs alerting motorists of the possible roadway conditions, according to the news release. Additional troopers are coming out to monitor the area, FHP reported.

Visibility on Interstate 75 remains clear as of 9 p.m.
