Bradenton bicycle theft victim gets bike back; 2 arrested

BRADENTON -- There was an unlikely happy ending for a Bradenton victim who had her bike stolen on Sunday night, according to the Manatee Sheriff's Office.

The 25-year-old victim reported to deputies that her bike was stolen out of her garage in the 3900 block of 52nd Drive West at 9:44 p.m. Sunday, according to a report. Deputies took down a description of the suspects and the bike and tried to use dogs to track the suspects, but dogs lost the trail.

A few hours later, another deputy stopped two individuals, 18-year-old Kevin Swain and a 16-year-old, for a bicycle violation, according to the release. The bicycle the minor was riding matched the victim's description of her bike, and Swain matched the description of who the victim had seen in her garage.

The victim was taken to the scene and positively identified that the bike was hers, according to deputies, matching the serial number on her owner's manual to the one on the bike.

Both individuals were arrested on burglary charges.
