MANATEE -- A Palmetto man was charged with grand theft Wednesday after stealing and pawning his brother's belongings on June 6, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Josef Ammirato, 23, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. According to a report, Ammirato's brother was sleeping at his Bradenton home when Ammirato awakened him. The victim said he allowed Ammirato inside and fell back asleep. When he woke up, he noticed his Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, 18 video games and his Samsung cellphone were all missing, according to a report. Ammirato's brother said it wasn't the first time he's stolen from him.

A deputy conducted a pawn search and, according to a report, Ammirato had pawned the items the same day. He received $171.50 for everything. The thumb print Ammirato left on the pawn ticket matched his known rolled latent prints, deputies said.

Ammirato was being held on $1,500 bond.
