Suspect eludes Bradenton police after routine traffic stop

BRADENTON -- After an officer performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle on Wednesday night, the driver fled and got away on foot, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

The officer stopped James Taylor, who was identified using an ID card left in the vehicle, for a stop sign violation at 9:08 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a report.

When the vehicle stopped, Taylor fled on foot and the officer lost him in the 1900 block of 15th Street West, according to police. Police were not able to track the suspect.

Police are currently drawing up a warrant for his arrest. The report had no details on why the suspect ran.
