Bradenton burglary suspect blames booze, Red Bull, pot and diet pills

June 17, 2014

MANATEE -- A 33-year-old man told the Manatee County Sheriff's Office he blamed a mixture of diet pills, Red Bull, marijuana and booze for his arrest for burglary.

Deputies report Michael Hearns went through his attic access in the 4000 block of 53rd Avenue West and opened his neighbor's attic access around 6 a.m. Friday.

He reportedly took tools and under garments.

The victim and her son told deputies they could hear noise in the attic but were unaware items were taken through the attic access. The victim called deputies when she noticed her attic access was damaged and items missing.

Hearns met with deputies Tuesday and reportedly gave a complete confession to the burglary.

Hearms reportedly fell after the burglary smashing through to the ground.

The suspect reportedly blamed diet pills, marijuana, alcohol and Red Bull for his actions but said he knew what he was doing was wrong the whole time.
