Sheriff warns public about jury duty scam

MANATEE -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office issued a scam alert Tuesday afternoon.

According to the report, the sheriff's office has received several calls from residents about a scam involving jury duty.

"Someone posing as a lieutenant tells the person they missed jury duty and to resolve the issue and avoid being arrested, they must pay up to several hundred dollars," the report states.

According to the sheriff's office, no one who has called to report the scam has become a victim,
