Rep. Boyd to speak at Manatee Forum

MANATEE -- State Rep. Jim Boyd, R-Bradenton, will be featured speaker at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Pier 22 Restaurant in Bradenton.

Dinner is $20 and Boyd will speak at 6:30 p.m. following a 30-minute social hour.

Boyd will discuss the recent legislative session from his vantage point from committee assignments as chairman of the State Affairs Committee and member of the Agriculture & Natural Resources Subcommittee, Joint Committee on Public Counsel Oversight and Select Committee on Gaming.

Author Ann Kale featured at Braden River Library

EAST MANATEE -- Ann Stephanian Kale will be guest author at the Braden River Library, 4915 53rd Ave. E., from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 21 and July 26, accompanied by her therapy dog, Max.

Kale will have her five books: "Marco and Princess Gina," "Artie -- the Ugly Frog," "Going to College with Grandma," "When I Grow Up" and "Regis the Wonder Dog" available for purchase and autographing.

All proceeds go to children's causes.
