SARASOTA — A 37-year-old man wanted by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office for two separate attacks on another man six days ago was arrested Sunday morning in Manatee County.

Ricky Mills, 37, was apprehended at a home in the 800 block of Whitfield Avenue in Manatee County, according to a sheriff’s office arrest report.

Mills reportedly has more than 12 arrests for violent crimes, including multiple counts of aggravated battery and domestic violence.

Mills, whose last known address was 3953 Almond Ave., Sarasota, was riding his bicycle in the 3500 block of Henrietta Place around 11 a.m. Tuesday when he saw his girlfriend walking with another man, according to the report.

Mills reportedly hit the man in the head several times with a metal pole and then got on his bicycle and left.

The victim told deputies the attack was the continuation of a fight that occurred overnight when Mills barged into his home to confront him about the woman. Mills reportedly punched the victim several times.

Mills was booked into the Sarasota County jail Sunday and charged with aggravated battery and burglary with battery.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force worked together to search for Mills, the report adds.
