BOYS TRACK AND FIELD Canaan Meester-Kitterman, sr., Bayshore

To his credit: Meester-Kitterman finished his high school career as one of the most prolific runners in Manatee County history. Last season, he finished third in the Class 2A state meet in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 26.15 seconds and eighth in the 3,200 meters with a personal best of 9:42.40. He finished second at the region meet in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters and won district championships in the 1,600 and 3,200 and the 1,600 in the Manatee County championships.

Fast facts: A three-time Herald All-Area Cross Country Athlete of the Year, Meester-Kitterman arguably has been the area's most dominant male long distance runner the past several years. He lives and breathes running and says he doesn't ever see himself not running. He started running when he was 13 because it was fun. Meester-Kitterman now calls it a passion.
