LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Town Hall Executive Director Eva Rey has managed to turn things around in just three years since her arrival to the growing master-planned community.

A Town Hall once riddled with internal staffing problems and communication failures with residents is no longer, according to Alan Roth, a board member of the Inter-District Authority, which unanimously vot

ed Thursday to renew Rey's three-year contract.

"We made the right choice when we picked her," Roth said following a morning board meeting.

"She brings a great deal of professionalism to the position. We were having difficulty with employees not getting along and understanding the whole process. She fixed that and helped reduced animosity between Town Hall and our residents."

Rey's new contract, which reportedly took only a brief time to negotiate with IDA Chairman Tom Green and the board's attorney, includes a 5 percent salary increase to $136,500, effective Aug. 1, while the rest of the terms and conditions remain the same.

In addition to her salary increase, she will receive a one-time $5,000 merit bonus that was not part of the original contract. The bonus was approved by the IDA to acknowledge her accomplishments in the past three years of managing Town Hall operations and personnel, and the business of the IDA, the community development districts and homeowner associations.

Rey, who previously served in management for the Villages, the largest retirement community in Florida near Ocala, said she is humbled by the kind words and show of support.

"This is a dynamic and growing community and I am happy to be a part of the magic. There is still a lot of work to be done and I am looking forward to working with an excellent team to make Lakewood Ranch the very best community to live, work, and play. This might be a tagline, but it's true," Rey said in a written statement.

One of her highest priorities, she says, is the governance website for the community, lakewoodranchgov.org, which represents a leap forward in communications for Lakewood Ranch residents.
