MANATEE -- A 15-year-old boy caused five crashes after taking his father's car without permission on Thursday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy drove up to a crash at the intersection of U.S. 301 and First Street East at 9:10 a.m. and got out of his car to check on the involved drivers, according to a report.

The suspect fled in his vehicle, and the deputy got back in his car, pursuing the suspect to the 5100 block of 15th Street East, where the suspect crashed his car into a power pole.

The suspect was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to deputies.

Deputies discovered the suspect had caused three other crashes, two in Bradenton and a third in the 5200 block of 15th Street East, which caused minor injuries to a 38-year-old driver. She was transported to the hospital for treatment, according to the report.

Police contacted the suspect's father, who told deputies his son had taken the car without his permission. Charges are pending.
