Manatee County wrong on indigent health care issue

June 12, 2014

Manatee County Administrator Ed Hunzeker and the county commissioners are trying to pull the wool over our eyes and make us believe that the residents of Manatee County want to pay for indigent health care.

The workshops were a ruse to get the community together and give their wish list for county health care.

One way to pay for this is to raise the sales tax by a half percent. Last summer, the citizens responded with a resounding "no" by 61 percent.

Now it seems that they are listening to big money, corporations and political contributors to bring the sales tax increase up again, probably during the Nov. 4 election.

It seems that local politicians don't listen to their constituents ... just like our state and national politicians. It is difficult for the middle class to be heard over the lure of big money that fill the coffers of reelection campaigns.
