BRADENTON — A Tennessee man was charged with grand theft auto, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

George Beal, 40, was arrested at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday at 3006 14th St. W., Bradenton.

A police officer reported a silver Chrysler LHS traveling south on 14th Street West was stolen.

While the officer's vehicle remained behind him, Beal reportedly turned into a convenience store. Police reportedly conducted a felony traffic stop and vehicle occupants were detained.

Beal reportedly said he borrowed the car. The car owner, however, reportedly said Beal had stolen the vehicle.

Booking information for Beal was not immediately available on the sheriff’s website.
