Bradenton man charged after stealing money from donation containers at 7-Eleven

BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man was charged with petty theft Tuesday after stealing the currency inside donation containers from a Bradenton 7-Eleven, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Kevin R. Kinney, 32, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in Palmetto. On April 29, Kinney entered the store at 5640 14th St. W., Bradenton, according to a report. As a store clerk unloaded a truck, Kinney entered the 7-Eleven, removed a donation container and emptied it of its currency before leaving the store with it.

Deputies say Kinney entered the store a minute later and removed another container and the currency inside it. The total amount of currency in both containers was $100. Management later recognized Kinney in surveillance and he was later positively identified by a sheriff's deputy.

This is Kinney's third or subsequent theft offense, according to a report. According to the sheriff's website, he was being held in jail on $2,500 bond.
