Sheriff's office search for hit-and-run driver in crash with Manatee deputy's car

MANATEE -- A deputy tried to stop a vehicle when the driver intentionally struck the deputy's patrol car, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy was trying to stop the vehicle during an investigation at 1:08 a.m. on Tuesday in the 3100 block of Third Street East. The driver refused to stop, striking the deputy's patrol vehicle and leaving the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect was driving a dark blue Nissan Altima and sustained heavy front end damage as a result of the hit, according to deputies. The deputy was unhurt, but the suspect was not located.
