Commentary | Perfect season ends with No. 1 national ranking for IMG U18 girls soccer

IMG Academy's U18 girls soccer team won the FYSA State Cup U19 title in late May to cap a 27-0-3 season. That success earned the club three No. 1 rankings (nation, region and state). In addition to the FYSA State Cup, the U18 girls captured the Florida Cup, IMG Cup Girls College Showcase and the Eckerd College 3v3 tournament.

In addition, the 18-member team all earned spots with college programs with 14 heading to Division-I programs. Those team members include: Anastasia Swift, Angelica Santana, Annah Lindberg, Bonnie Skinner, Charlotte Herbertz, Chatham DeProspo, Daniela Tellez, Hannah Babjak, Jaclyn Knapczyk, Jacqueline Simeone, Loreana Lonigro, Marissa Milazzo, Michaela Krebser, Miranda Proctor, Morgan Salmon, Pamela Villavicencio, Sarah Wasser and Veronica Perez.

SUP Series kicks off June 21

The second annual Sarasota SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) Race Series begins June 21 at Siesta Key Beach. In addition, future races in the series are to be held at Nathan Benderson Park (Aug. 23) and at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron (Oct. 11).

Events at Siesta Key later this month include a 6-mile beach "Start Battle of the Paddle" course, a 3-mile recreation course

and a ½-mile short course.

There's also a "Beach to Buoy and Back" co-ed team relay race.

More than $10,000 in trophies, awards and giveaways are offered in the Sarasota SUP Series.
