UPCOMING EVENTS

June 13-18: The Anna Maria Island Community Center has announced its summer lineup of adult sports leagues. There are three options: Flag Football, Softball and Volleyball, all co-ed. Flag Football will be played on Thursday nights, and the tryout time is 6 p.m. June 16. Softball will be on Friday nights, and the tryout time is 6:30 p.m. June 13. Volleyball will be played on Tuesday nights, and the tryout time is 7 p.m. June 18. Registration can be done by phone or in person. The cost is $75 for members and $110 for non-members. Sign up for more than one sport and get a $25 discount. June 13: The Manatee Chamber of Commerce will host its inaugural Sporting Clays Fun Shoot on June 13 at Ancient Oaks Gun Club. Experienced and beginning shooters may participate in a 50-clay tournament and a Cowboy Cookout and receive goody bags and awards for the top three teams and the highest scoring individual shooter. During the awards ceremony, there will also be a raffle drawing for two top prizes: Franchi Affinity Sporting 12-gauge shotgun and Ruger 10/22 Carbine .22 caliber rifle. June 14: Rosedale Golf & Country Club will host a junior golf program open to students ages 5-18 beginning June 14 and running for nine consecutive Saturdays. Available times are 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Each session is limited to 16 students. The cost is $200 per child. Additional junior programs including a 10 a.m. clinic on Wednesdays for $20 per session and a "Play with the Pro" program at 10 a.m. Fridays for $40 per session. June 20-22: The Onshore Offshore Boat Show returns to the Bradenton Area Convention Center on June 20-22. Attendees will be able to browse a selection of new boats along with boating accessories, fishing gear and more. New this year is the Captain Joe Fishing School. Bait, tackle and line will be provided for hands-on seminars led by expert anglers. The admission is $5, and kids ages 12 and younger will be admitted free. Parking is free. Show hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 20-21 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 22. On June 20, attendees may purchase two adult tickets for the price of one, courtesy of the Bradenton Herald. June 22 is Community Day. Half of all ticket sales revenue will go to Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee, courtesy of Bright House Networks. For more information, visit www.onshoreoffshoreboatshow.com.
