Gunshots trigger high-speed Bradenton chase; 2 arrested

MANATEE — Two suspects face charges after they were caught following a high-speed chase preceded by gunshots.

The unnamed suspects fled from the 600 block of 21st Avenue West at 11 p.m. Saturday and crashed at the 100 block of 28th Avenue East, according to a Bradenton Police Department report.

The vehicle passenger complied with an officer’s order and laid down on the street but the driver reportedly was apprehended by a police dog. The chase began after officers investigated gunshots heard in the area of 21st Avenue West, according to the report.

A firearm, reported stolen by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, was reportedly found in the vehicle. Five shell casings of the same caliber were found in the street, according to the report.

No persons or property were reported hit by bullets. The vehicle was towed to the Bradenton Police Department.
