Roser Church schedules 2 special speakers for Father's Day

HERALD STAFF REPORTJune 7, 2014

ANNA MARIA ISLAND -- The Rev. John Staal, a member of Roser Church and a retired pastor specializing in hospital and hospice ministry, will be the guest speaker at Roser Church's Father's Day service, 10 a.m., June 15.

Special music will include a flutist for the family service, which is open to the public.

Children will be dismissed after the Children's Message for their own special program. Nurseries are available during services.

Dr. Wendell Wilson, of Loving Hands Ministries Inc., a nonprofit Christ-centered residential rehabilitation program for young men addicted to drugs, alcohol and other life-controlling problems, will also speak. Loving Hands is Roser Church's Mission for June.

Loving Hands Ministries was founded in 1982 by Dr. Wendell Wilson and his wife, Nancy, in Bradenton.

A second facility, the Lighthouse, opened in Dade City in 1992.

The ministry does not receive any federal or state funding, nor does it charge residents for its services. The ministry provides a highly structured program of spiritual discipline, guidance and education.

Loving Hands has a 70 percent success rate among those who complete program requirements.

Refreshments will be served after the service as we celebrate fathers and June birthdays.

Roser is a nondenominational Christian church near the Anna Maria City Pier on Historic Pine Avenue.
