BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man was charged with criminal mischief/property damage Thursday after challenging to fight another man for parking his car further into the roadway than what he felt was right, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Kevin L. Smith, 44, was arrested at 11:51 p.m. at his home in Bradenton's Aloha Estates. According to a report, he began yelling at another man to move his car. The victim, who was visiting his sister in Aloha Estates, went inside her home.

"Kevin followed [the victim] up the carport and stood outside of the residence screaming for [the victim] to get out of the house and fight him," the report states. Smith then allegedly punched the side of the mobile home and, after law enforcement officers arrived, he told them he wasn't afraid of them. According to deputies, Smith was intoxicated.

After his arrest, deputies say Smith spoke in a violent tone and said he would return to the victims' residence to deal with them later because "that's how we do things in Texas."

Smith was booked in jail on $500 bond and released Friday.
