SARASOTA -- The Sarasota Ballet has scheduled a vigil Monday evening for Pedro Pupa.

Pupa, a 20-year-old Brazilian dancer in the Sarasota Ballet's corps de ballet, was killed Wednesday afternoon when a truck hit him as he was riding his bicycle near the Ringling. He died several hours later. The driver was cited for failure to yield.

"Pedro was one of the nicest young men I have had the pleasure to know," said Mary Anne Servian, ballet managing director. "Always a smile, always a kind word. Pedro lived life to the fullest."

The vigil is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. at The Ringling Ca'd'Zan, 5401 Bay Shore Drive, Sarasota, near the scene of the accident. For more information go to sarasotaballet.org or call 941-359-0099.
