Business briefs: Gettel Toyota earns dealership honor

BRADENTON -- Gettel Toyota has been give the Toyota President's Award for the 14th time.

In order to qualify as a "President's Award" winner, dealerships must excel in each of a series of categories, including sales satisfaction and service satisfaction.

Gettel, 6423 14th St. W., Bradenton, sells new and pre-owned automobiles and related services.

Neal Communites show strongest April sales

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- On the heels of its best sales month ever in March, Neal Communities came right back for its strongest April sales.

Last month, the 44-year-old homebuilder sold 88 homes across 16 communities from Manatee County to Lee County. The record sales month comes after Neal sold 92 homes in March. That number was an all-time monthly sales record for the company.

Lakewood Ranch saw nine new home sales during the month, while the Fairfield community in Bradenton had eight.

The company has 17 communities currently under construction, according to a list of its communities compiled in April.

Ringling students win national ADDY Awards

SARASOTA -- Ringling College students won seven National American Advertising Federation awards.

Ringling College students were the only winners of national awards from the local AdFed Suncoast chapter.

The Gold Award winners are:

• James Heredia, Natalie Lerner, Devon Keene, "Fine Art/Access" in the Cinematography category.

• Jack Dess, Cristina Hernandez, "Crayola Brighten" in the Elements of Advertising (Digital Creative Technology) category.

Silver Award winners:

• Alex Pope and Julia Dunn, "Art is Offensive" in the Single Advertisement category.

• Paige Caruso and Philip Lofstedt, "GE Empower Initiative" in the Elements of Advertising (Digital Creative Technology) category.

• Nicole Maiz, "Tedx Growth" in the Animation or Special Effects category.

• Tukiya Mwanza, Shawn Dennis, Matthew Bongiolatti, "Project Selfie" in the Social Media category.

• Philip Lofstedt and Cristina Hernandez, "Yamaha Escape" in the Campaign category.

AdFed Suncoast meets regularly, hosting speakers on various industry topics. It also hosts the annual ADDY Awards. Membership is open to anyone in Sarasota and Manatee counties involved in advertising, media, communications and creative services.

Manatee nonprofits take home business trophies

Manatee County nonprofits took home five of eight awards in a Tampa Bay Business Journal competition.

The annual award recognizes and honors the nonprofit organizations making a difference in their communities.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal named Southeastern Guide Dogs as its Nonprofit of the Year in the environment and animals category. It was also named the overall Non-Profit of the Year.

The South Florida Museum won in the arts, culture and humanities category. Just For Girls won in the children and youth services division, Goodwill Manasota won for health and human services and Realize Bradenton took home a trophy for public and societal benefit,
