Bradenton woman charged with starving dog to death

BRADENTON — A Bradenton woman was charged with intentionally starving an animal, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Cathy Cramer, 47, was arrested at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday after a dead dog was discovered in the home she was evicted from May 19.

A couple discovered a dead dog in the right-rear bedroom of the Bradenton home. The dog, believed to be a chow chow, was only bones and fur, to the sheriff's office.

According to Cramer’s children and two witnesses, the dog was named Ruby, the sheriff's office said.

A witness reported hearing scratching noises for about two weeks, and other witnesses told authorities a bad smell was coming from the bedroom.

Cramer’s daughter said she thought the dog was given to a shelter, according to the report.

Cramer, who faces a charge of tanimal cruelty, was booked in Manatee County jail and held on $15,000 bond.
