Blue Jackets sign Hjalmarsson

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Columbus Blue Jackets signed Swedish forward Simon Hjalmarsson to a one-year, two-way contract on Wednesday.

Hjalmarsson, 25, spent the last five seasons in the Swedish Hockey League. He totaled 27 goals and 30 assists in 55 games last season for Linkoping, and his 57 points were good for third most in the league.

The St. Louis Blues selected Hjalmarsson in the second round of the 2007 NHL Draft.
