Missing 76-year-old diabetic man in Manatee

MANATEE -- A diabetic man, who was due to take insulin medication at 5:00 p.m Tuesday and did not, is missing in Manatee County, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Lewis Lucas, 76, was last seen leaving a friend's home at the Wildwood Springs community at 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to the sheriff's office. He was supposed to return home after, but did not. Lucas suffered a stroke in 2009.

Lucas' sister, who takes care of him full-time, reported him missing at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday when he never returned. He has no other known friends or family in the area.

Lucas drives a blue 2000 Ford Ranger pick up and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue pants and black sneakers, according to the release. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs 240 pounds. He does not carry a cell phone or debit cards.
