BRADENTON — A Bradenton man was charged with violating driver license restrictions Tuesday after he parked his car at a recreation center and was unable to provide a sheriff’s deputy with a valid reason for being behind the wheel of a vehicle, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Matthew Stewart Harrod, 23, was arrested at 1:05 a.m. at Bayshore Gardens Park & Recreation District, 6919 26th St. W., Bradenton.

A deputy reportedly saw Harrod parking in the center, which was closed after dark. The deputy approached the vehicle and Harrod was reportedly reluctant to provide his name.

Asked why he was at the park, Harrod said he was with a female companion and they were kissing.

The deputy issued a citation andtook Harrod to jail, where he was being held without bond on another charge of violation of probation. Bond was set at $120.
