BRADENTON -- Bradenton police officers found a scale with trace amounts of cocaine on it when they tried to perform a routine traffic stop on a vehicle, according to a report.

Police tried to stop suspect Edward Nixion for a window tint violation on 17th Avenue West during Wednesday night, but Nixion refused to stop his vehicle, according to police. Nixion continued down the road and turned into Bradenton Village, where he continued until 15th Avenue West, stopped his car and got out. Police took him into custody.

Officers found small amounts of cocaine on a scale in Nixion's car, according to the report.

Nixion is charged with eluding a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license with knowledge, reckless driving and violation of probation.

Booking information for Nixon was not available on the Manatee County jail website.
