The Sarasota area is known for its arts and its beaches. But, at least according to the people at Visit Sarasota, it also has the highest concentration of Zagat-rated restaurants in Florida.

So whether you're a full-time resident, a seasonal resident or a visitor, no doubt there are restaurants around town you've wanted to check out. This is the time of year to do it.

The annual Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week begins Sunday. And it's really a restaurant fortnight, not a week -- it runs through June 14.

For those two weeks, you can go to any of the participating restaurants and get a three-course dinner for $29. A three-course lunch will set you back just $15 per person.

More than 50 restaurants are participating in this year's Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week, and there's something for all palates, from Hawaiian fusion to Mediterranean and from seafood to steak.

The restaurants involved all have a special limited menu specifically for Savor Sarasota. You just ask your server for that menu and make your choice. If nothing on the Restaurant Week Menu suits your fancy, you can still choose from the restaurant's usual menu, but you'll have to pay full price.

A list of restaurants and links to their Restaurant Week menus are available on the Savor Sarasota website.

Details: June 1-24, various locations. Prices: $15 lunch, 29 dinner. Information: restaurantweek.savorsarasota.com.
