May 28, 2014

PALMETTO — A Palmetto man was charged with uttering a forged check Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Trevor Jacob Crowley, 22, was arrested at 3:42 p.m. at his home after a victim was notified two checks had been fraudulently made out to Crowley and cashed, according to a report. One check dated March 3 was for $35 and the other dated April 8 was for $75.

Crowley reportedly told deputies people brought him items to sell in exchange for money for narcotics. He reportedly said he was selling an Acer Mini, which the victim purchased with a check. Another man brought Crowley a rifle to sell, which the victim reportedly paid for with another check.

Crowley was being held on $1,500 bond.
