Sheriff: Bradenton man charged after stealing computer, making threats

BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man was charged with theft and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after taking a victim's computer and threatening him and a witness with a rifle, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Tea Robert Vandugteren, 33, was arrested at 11:31 a.m. oMonday. According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim and a witness said that they overheard Vandugteren from another room talking about the victim's computer. When they went to Vandugteren, they saw him holding the computer.

"The victim confronted the defendant who said, 'When you give me the $40 you owe me you can have it back,' then took a handgun from his waist and cocked it, then put it back in his waist line, not pointing the gun at him," a reoirt states,

Vandugteren then took the computer to his car, brought a rifle back into the house and showed it, stating that if he goes to jail he is going to take care of everyone, deputies said.

He was being held in jail without bond.
