Man arrested after buying cooler at Walmart, then hiding cast net in it

PALMETTO -- A Riverview man was charged with petty/grand theft Monday after buying a cooler at Walmart and later concealing a cast net inside it before leaving the store, according to the Palmetto Police Department.

Alberto Yoel Collazo-Cordova, 37, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. on Monday, police said.

Shortly after 3 p.m., Collazo-Cordova entered a Walmart Supercenter, 508 10th St East, Palmetto. According to a probable cause affidavit, he bought a plastic cooler, then brought the cooler back into the store and concealed a cast net inside the cooler.

Police say Collazo-Cordova passed all points of purchase before being stopped by the store's Loss Prevention officers.

Collazo-Cordova was booked into jail on Monday at $120 bond and released Tuesday.
