Spencer Pier, use of a deadly weapon, no bond

MANATEE -- Two Bradenton roommates got into a fight that landed one of them in the hospital and the other in jail late Sunday.

Spencer J. Pier, 40, and his 39-year-old roommate started a verbal argument at their home in the 200 block of 42nd Street NW, but the argument turned physical when Pier armed himself with a large knife and stabbed the victim in the left forearm, deputies reported.

Pier fled the scene before deputies and a K-9 arrived. As the K-9 began to track in the home's fenced-in backyard, a deputy spotted the suspect hiding in some bushes just outside of the fence.

Pier was taken into custody without incident, and the weapon was found. The victim was taken by ambulance to Blake Hospital for treatment. Pier was being held with no bond on charges of use of a deadly weapon.
