Alligator Alley could be closed by nearby 50-acre fire

COLLIER -- There is a 50-acre fire burning and growing south of Interstate 75 at mile marker 57 on Alligator Alley, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Smoke is occasionally shifting and affecting the roadway. If winds continue to shift tonight Alligator Alley could be closed east of State Road 29. The roadway is not expected to be closed at this time unless conditions deteriorate.

FHP troopers will be monitoring the area. Motorist are asked to use extreme caution.
